We hate to break it to you, New England Patriots fans. But you should be rooting heavily for the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend.
The 7-7 Eagles play at home Sunday against the 10-4 Houston Texans, who currently own the AFC’s No. 2 seed. If the Texans lose to Philly and the Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, however, New England will move to 10-5 and overtake Houston for the No. 2 seed by virtue of its tiebreaker over the Texans (head-to-head results).
With a Texans loss and Patriots win this weekend, New England would just need to beat the New York Jets at home in Week 17 to secure a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs.
- Why AFC’s No. 2 seed could be best-case scenario for Patriots
Houston is one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now and has won 10 of its last 11 games. But the Eagles are in desperation mode, needing a win to stay alive in the NFC playoff race, and just upset the Los Angeles Rams on the road last weekend.
Here’s how and when to watch Texans vs. Eagles online.
